We had everything we needed, so we got started. It almost seemed too easy, but after Cleco-ing everything together it was time to rivet. Those Clecos are great inventions btw. Using the hand-squeeze riveter started out as a great idea, but it was definitely slow, and by the end of the day hard on the hands. More importantly, it was a little hard to keep the head from jumping on us occasionally and marring the surface. Time to order the pneumatic rivet gun.
A couple of rivet heads stood a bit proud so we got to practice our skills at drilling out and replacing rivets. All in all, though, we ended up with something that looked like a rudder. What a thrill to see a bunch of sheet metal turn into a recognizable airplane part!
