After a bit of a wait for schedules and tooling, it’s time to build again. Took a few minutes to figure out the pneumatic riveter setup, but well worth it. And a lot of fun to use too. We got some kibbitzing help from Cindy and Michael from our glider club, who politely hide the fact that they think we’re crazy.
The VS looked a bit more challenging with more ribs and varying thicknesses. We get our first taste of really starting to understand grip length on rivets and having to look closely at the drawings for orientation details. But really not much more difficult – our confidence is soaring.
Using the fluting pliers turns out to be surprisingly fun and not that hard. We’re not looking for micron-level precision here… just make the ribs lay kinda flat-ish!
