We (Rob and Sue) have embarked on the road to building a Rans S-21! It’s exciting, very fun and… well… a little intimidating.
After a few different ideas on how to maintain the build log, we decided that a WordPress site would be the easiest way to keep things organized, and share our experience with interested friends.
If you’re visiting this site you probably know us. But just in case you don’t, both of us are basically nerds. We have each picked up some practical skills through our life experiences, but are pretty far from what anyone would call “handy”. So taking on this project was a huge leap of faith.
We’re both taildragger aficionados and are happier in bush pilot mode than landing on asphalt. Finding a kitplane that looks like an amazing bush plane was great, but one made by RANS was an added bonus. RANS is based in Hays, KS (Sue’s hometown) and is a company she’s been following for 20 years. So except for actually deciding to take the plunge, the choice of the S-21 was a bit of a no-brainer. And so far we’ve been very happy with the kit quality and building experience. We highly recommend it!
