One of the first topics we learned about was quite riveting. Literally.
We learned about aluminum stems vs steel, countersunk heads vs protruding, structural vs nonstructural, diameters and grip length. For other builders who don’t know this already, at a minimum pay attention closely before you grab the wrong rivet accidentally and then later discover the problem and have a lot to drill out and replace.
We also learned that using the edge forming tool is quite finicky. Too little pressure and it does nothing. Too much and it’s impossible to control. Once it works, though, the results are subtlely pleasing.
Did you know that files only cut on the push, not the pull? One of us (who shall remain nameless since we’re in this together!) didn’t. So many useful life skills that we didn’t learn in school.
